KAWASAKI KI-61-1-KAI "TONY"
Model is in 1/16 scale (wingspan 29 1/2") and was completed in 2004. Birch, walnut, birch veneers. |
|
|
|
Markings are holly and dyed poplar veneers and represent an aircraft from the Japanese Army No. 59 Sentai in 1945. All panels are separate inlays. There are over 450 individually cut and carved pieces of wood on this model. |
|
|
|
The spinner is holly died yellow, the propeller blades and engine exhausts are mahogany. Guns and pitot tube are brass. Finish is clear lacquer. |

HURRICANE I
Canadian ace Willy McKnight's Hurricane I in 1/16th scale (wingspan 30 inches). Model built in 2002. |

Construction: Mahogany and birch veneers over a solid balsa core with mahogany, birch, ebony and walnut woods. |
|
|
|
Insignia are inlaid holly and various dyed veneers, while personal markings are woodburned and stained. Camouflage pattern stained. Model finished in clear lacquer. |

B-24M LIBERATOR
The model is in 1/48th scale (wingspan 27 1/2 inches) and was completed in 1995. |

Construction: Solid mahogany and ebony with inlaid walnut, holly and various dyed veneer markings. Brass details. |

CURTISS E-BOAT OF 1912.
This model, of the Vilas boat, is in 1/24 scale (wingspan 24 inches) and was completed in 1998. Construction: Hull and struts are solid walnut with different grained walnut inlay and brass detail. |

|
Wings and tails are of basswood covered with silkspan and lacquered. Engine is painted and unpainted basswood, veneer and brass. Unpainted wood finished in tung oil. The propeller is laminated up of sapwood and heartwood grains of walnut veneer. |

U.S. NAVY DIRIGIBLE MACON
The model is in 1/262nd scale (length 36 inches) and was completed in 1997. Construction: Hull is built up plank on frame using mahogany plywood frames with birch ply planks. |

The model was covered with birch, holly, walnut and various dyed veneers and has solid birch nose cone, gondola and fins. Engines, struts and propellers are brass. F9-C Sparrowhawk built up of various veneers and brass. Clear lacquer finish. |

The model is in 1/16th scale (wingspan 26 inches) and was completed in 1990. Construction: Fuselage is plank on frame covered with butternut veneer. |

|
Tails, wingtips and cowl are solid butternut. Spinner and propellers are walnut. Markings are inlaid holly and various dyed veneers with other details in brass. Clear lacquer finish over a stained camouflage pattern. |

The model is in 1/16th scale (wingspan 24 1/8 inches) and was completed in 1992. Construction: The fuselage and wings are hollowed out solid mahogany and holly. |

Markings are inlaid holly and various dyed veneers, as is the JG 26 insignia on the nose. Propeller blades are walnut and fitting details are in brass. |

This model is in 1/24th scale (wingspan 16 1/4 inches) and was completed in 1992. It is solid mahogany, walnut and holly. Markings are inlaid holly and dyed veneers, details in brass. Camouflage is stain with a clear lacquer finish. |

The cowl is solid walnut with mahogany rocker arm fairings. The wing is solid walnut and mahogany with walnut veneer inlay. Tail solid walnut and mahogany. Brass detail. Antique chrome metal propeller. |
